About Waxing
Waxing is a method of removing unwanted hair and removes the hair from the root. The benefits of waxing over shaving are that new hairs will not grow back in the waxed area for up to three to eight weeks. Almost any area of the body are okay for waxing and the most common areas for waxing are eyebrows, face (chin and lip), bikini area, legs, arms, back, abdomen and feet.
The actual waxing treatment consists of spreading a warm wax thinly over the skin. A cloth strip is then pressed on the top. The wax that has been applied to the skin 'sticks' to the hair on the body and the cloth. The cloth is then ripped off with a quick movement against the direction of hair growth. This removes the wax along with the hair and dead skin cells, leaving the skin smooth and silky.
New hair growth in the waxed area is soft and fine, not sharp and coarse like shaved hair. After repeated waxing, hair regrowth is less common and eventually the hair will never regrow.
Waxing After Care
Take extra care of the waxed area, especially within the first 24 hours. We recommend using our Australian Bodycare Antiseptic Hand and Body Lotion daily. Continue to use the Lotion for three to four days after treatment, as it contains 5% Tea Tree Oil and will eliminate bacteria for a longer period than other lotions.
Avoid sunbathing, sunbed treatments and very hot baths for 48 hours as the waxed areas will be sensitive to heat.
Avoid friction from nylon material or tight clothing.
Avoid using perfumed body lotions or creams. To minimise any risk of infection always wash your hands before applying the lotion. We recommend Australian Bodycare Antiseptic Skin Wash.
